![]() ![]() ![]() Ruth, Abby and Akanksha used tutorials to understand the basics of Synfig Ruth finished the time management planning for the animation project. ![]() Abby started to look at how to use Synfig. We began to document and plan our animation. We chose to make a Synfig animation of the Paper Bag Princess We divided work well, worked hard and increased our knowledge of creating animations greatly. However, we learnt a lot about it, were able to do some simple animations by following tutorials and worked well as a team through the time. ![]() Synfig Studio is too advanced to learn to master in the way required for our project, in the short time we had. Nonetheless, during each lesson we stayed as close to our plan as we could, splitting up to get more work done, and then coming together at the end to see how we had progressed in the lesson. We used our time well in each lesson, although towards the end we became somewhat discouraged and lost focus slightly. We have learnt how to record sound clips, how to use photoshop to make possible images that can be used in anything (as well as how to change their file type so it can be used in Synfig), we also learnt how to make basic animations using Synfig and learnt more about the program - although we have still barely scratched the surface! It is nearly impossible to create an animation without the use of a detailed tutorial before you understand the program better. If we had aimed to be able to create a walk-through animation or a cut-out animation (from tutorials), this would have been more probable and possible. We found that Synfig Studio is much more challenging than it at first seemed, however, it is bearable if you are following tutorials, not trying to create something completely new and advanced. Separate from the product, but still an animation, are a flower animation (made by Ruth, but attempted separately by Abby and Akanksha) and part of a magnifying glass animation (attempted by Ruth, challenges in making it are explained in the documentation). Although we did not manage to produce a finished product this term, and we were unable to animate the movie using Synfig Animation Studio, the backgrounds are imported and we have the full scene of the princess in the castle room (although animation itself won't work, it is set up so cut-out animation should be possible), as well as the scene of the princess in the burnt landscape (without animation). ![]()
